The short version
Buying K3 Fashion means buying Microsoft first. The product is an industry solution embedded in Dynamics 365 Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Commerce, adding the fashion-specific constructs the Microsoft platform does not ship on its own. The ERP underneath stays Microsoft's. K3 arrives as certified independent software vendor (ISV) functionality inside it, not as a bolt-on integration sitting alongside it.
Where K3 Fashion comes from
The vendor is K3 Fashion Solutions, part of the UK-based K3 Group, with more than 30 years in fashion and retail technology behind it. Recent years reshaped the group considerably. It sold NexSys, its long-time UK SYSPRO distribution arm, to SYSPRO in a transaction announced at 36 million pounds, returned capital to shareholders, and left the London AIM market in July 2025, becoming privately held in the process. What remains is a business built around its own fashion IP: K3 Fashion for the enterprise Dynamics 365 stack, and K3 Pebblestone, a sibling product embedded in Dynamics 365 Business Central for smaller companies.
What it covers
The feature list reads like a fashion planner's working day. Color-size-fit matrices, seasonal collection management, inventory splitting and allocation, prepack handling, and cost calculation down to the individual variant. Distribution workflows are covered, as are bill-of-materials and quality control on the manufacturing side, and the product development capabilities overlap with lightweight PLM. Everything else, from finance to supply chain to reporting, comes from the Dynamics 365 platform the solution lives inside.
Who buys it
Larger fashion brands, wholesalers, and manufacturers working in apparel, footwear, accessories, luxury, and outdoor. In the United States the route to market is the Microsoft partner channel and the Microsoft marketplace rather than a large direct sales force. Companies already standardized on Microsoft business applications are the natural audience. Everyone else is being asked to adopt a platform as well as a product.
Licensing, hosting, cost
Deployment follows the Dynamics 365 cloud model. Three cost components define the budget: Microsoft Dynamics 365 licensing, the K3 ISV subscription, and partner-led implementation. None of them is published as a list price for this combination, which makes a consolidated quote across all three the only number worth comparing. Our ERP cost guide sets out how to structure that request across platform, ISV, and services.
Our take
For a fashion enterprise that has already committed to Dynamics 365, K3 Fashion is a credible way to get industry depth without paying for custom development. Be honest about what is actually being evaluated, though: Dynamics 365 plus K3, Microsoft licensing included, delivered by a partner. Companies with no plan to run Dynamics 365 should stop reading here, because the product does not exist outside that platform. Smaller businesses belong on K3 Pebblestone and Business Central rather than the enterprise stack. The UK headquarters is offset by an established US partner and marketplace presence, though reference checks with comparable US customers remain worth the time.
